Name the Robots!
We recently held a competition for local school children to name a robot in William Lees process shop. School children from all the local schools had the chance to have the name of their choice on a plaque situated on the robot.
Installed in November 2017, the robots have been a vital part to WM Lee’s expansion, allowing the company to grow but allowing the workforce to expand! Created by the Swedish pioneers ABB, the eight state-of-the-art robots have been integrated into the Wm Lee process shop to help finish high quality castings made for the automotive, agricultural and rail industries. Although taking up duties formerly performed by humans, we believe that embracing robotic technology will lead to a healthier order book and more working shifts for its other employees.
The children were greeted by our Managing Director – Toni who gave an explanation on about what WM Lee do! To find out more about WM Lee click here.
We invited all the children to be involved with the naming of their robot along with parents. From the number of entries we had 8 names which stood out, these were:
Will I Am Lee, Sparky, Jeff, Warrior, Dronny 5, Barney, Cliffe & Buddy.
For more information about the evening please see an article done by a local blogger – derbyshireduckie who’s children had two successful entries into the competition!
